About Us

BeeHappy Beekeeping

BeeHappy Beekeeping began in 2017 on a smallholding in Assagay, KwaZulu-Natal — born from a love of nature, a passion for working with our hands, and a deep respect for the bees that hold our ecosystems together.

What started as a one-off request to build a beehive quickly grew into something much bigger. Living next to a furniture factory, Dylan Stephen learned the art of carpentry under the guidance of Garth Palmer. When Assagay Honey Farm lost their carpenter, Dylan stepped in to make a sample hive — and from there, BeeHappy took flight. Joined by his wife Keyla and co-founder Raine Solomon, the team turned a passion project into a purpose-driven business.

Our Purpose

At BeeHappy, we envision a future where thriving farms and natural ecosystems live in harmony — supported not just by honeybees, but by all pollinators and the habitats they need to survive.

We aim to support farmers, beekeepers, and growers across South Africa and beyond with ecologically-rooted services, thoughtfully crafted equipment, and accessible education. Whether you're a seasoned beekeeper, a beginner, or someone looking to bring pollinators back to your land, we’re here to help you do it — sustainably, confidently, and with care.

Our Values

  • Nature Knows Best – We believe real sustainability comes from listening to nature, not controlling it.

  • Quality & Craft – Whether it's a service, a hive, or a habitat box, it’s made to last and made with intention.

  • Community & Connection – We’re here to serve — people, pollinators, and Nature.

  • Empowerment Through Education – We believe informed people make better caretakers of bees, land, and life.

  • Quality Over Quantity – Every product, service, or interaction is made with intention and care.

  • Harmony, Not Exploitation – We support farming and living in a way that cooperates with ecosystems, not controls them.

  • Regenerative Growth – We aim to leave things better than we found them: in soil, systems, and spirit.

 What we Offer

We design and produce a wide range of quality beekeeping equipment, much of which is handmade in our workshop using reclaimed and recycled materials. Our custom builds are tailored to meet the practical needs of our customers while remaining rooted in ethical, environmentally sound practices.

From wooden hives made of salvaged timber to aluminium lids repurposed from old printing press sheets, every product has a story — and a smaller footprint.

In addition to our beekeeping line, we also craft animal habitat enclosures to support biodiversity on farms and in gardens.

One Hive at a Time

Every hive we build, every bat box we hang, every farm we support is part of something bigger. At BeeHappy, we’re not just protecting bees — we’re helping restore ecosystems, support pollinator diversity, and inspire responsible stewardship of the land.
